Communion is a part of the service, and is open to everyone.
Liturgy and Ritual
The format and order of our services come from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). The Episcopal Church is a “liturgical” church, which means that many of the prayers and forms used during a season stay the same. A season – such as Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost – can be two to thirty weeks.
The parts that change each week are the specific prayers; the Scriptures, which include an Old Testament reading, a Psalm, a New Testament reading, and a Gospel lesson from Matthew, Mark, Luke or John; and the music.
